ABOUT ME
Heya the name is Jack, I've developed a handful of skills around different fields within the game development scene, I've prioritised trying to focus on improving my coding skill and it's use within different engines. But with a heavy preference on unreal, With that being said there has been a heavy interest in putting myself within the role of a Technical Artist as well as Gameplay programmer, as I work towards building a portfolio more focused around those fields.
SKILL SETS
As I progress with each milestone I set whether that's big or small, I strive to improve upon the skills I've learned and hone them more to make me a better person as well as a developer with the current skills under my belt being;[ ] Visual Scripting (Unreal Engine)
[ ] Coding (C# & C++ (intermediate))
[ ] 3D Modelling
[ ] Level Design

Projects -
I've worked on a range of different prototypes, ranging from combat to more casual mechanics and looks.All the projects I work on I try to set myself a goal, on what I would love to learn at the end of the project and I've learnt quite a long way for the 5 years now I've been working within unreal engine and other engines alike.
KICKDRIFT -
This is a project that I am currently developing, and also in the process of pitching towards my fellow peers within my final year at university.The project is a sandbox game where you as the player are free to explore the new island, where expressing freedom is a big thing, travel around this island explore it's vast and different districts and tag your own freedom, whether that's through drifting corners, drag racing it down roads, or if you prefer a more manual approach, try performing your own trick list on your skateboard. Take part in events, earn your keep and spend it on your new projects whether that's a new car or even a board, if you want to take it a step further express yourself through fashion.This projects main purpose of me is to explore the opportunities to develop plugins and tools within unreal engine that will allow me to improve my workflow as well as express my creativity the best I can. And create a project that can continue the legacy and the enjoyment from games such as Bombrush Cyberfunk and Jet Set Radio.
Hack n Slash Prototype
This was a prototype project where I focused on trying to create a responsive but flashy combo system. This inspiration for this system was the Devil May Cry series, and I was trying to mimic their responsive movements as well as create fluidity between each attack.This prototype was more less about looks and levels and more on the backdoors of how something so simple like a three attack combo can be and look more into how complex it can be to make it feel good, and the work behind how gameplay programmers learn to implement it with other mechanics in mind.This later sparked a potential game idea that I have written down, to keep more as a potential look into exploring more complex systems and combine it with story and a visual look.
UH OH JERRY
Uh Oh Jerry was a group project within my time in college, that created the goal of you the player had to find different ways to harm yourself, to earn points depending on the amount of damage you did to yourself.Within this project, I found myself as the lead programmer working within unreal engine 5.4.4 working on developing the mechanics as well as working towards a more refined shader to help boost the art style.Unfortunately, this project was never finished nor further developed outside of college or after as the group has lost interest in working on it.
2D Platformer - STAIN
This was a small little project that I had worked on for one of my assignments, it's a small and quick platformer made within a web software called Flowlabs.Click the Image to see a little video playthrough of the game.
Locomotion Learning
This was a small little prototype that I had started to learn more about the ins and outs of creating a more immersive movement system that AAA games have and that help make you character feel heavier or lighter when moving around.
